Church Cruise Information
Shepherd of the Hills UMC joins Laguna Country UMC and Palisades UMC on a west coast cruise next May 2-6, 2017. Join us to worship, to learn God’s story of sharing our faith, and enjoy fellowship together. Cruise with Pastors Darren Cowdrey and Karl Stuckenberg as they present: “Finding God’s Story of Sharing our Faith in Film” aboard the Coral Princess. April 5 - Lenten Supper & Study
Lenten Supper at both campuses. Dinner is at 6:30 pm with study following at 7:00 pm. This year's Lenten Study is using the book Five Marks of a Methodist by Steve Harper (available on Sunday mornings for $7).
April 8 - MV Workday
Saturday, April 8, 8 am to noon. All skill levels will be working on various projects, including maintenance and repair projects, cleaning, sorting and gardening. Join us April 8 at MV (and May 20 at RSM).
April 8 - Lenten Hikes
What better way to connect with each other than to spend an hour or two, walking side by side along the many trails in south O.C. The Saturday hikes will include trails of varying difficulty and locations, from the paved paths of Mission Viejo to the rugged hills of Laguna. Most hikes will begin at 9 am. Look for details of each week’s hike on here or the church Facebook page. You can also join the In Motion Hiking group on My Shepherd to receive weekly e-mail reminders and even help us pick the next trail. Contact Doug Nason (email@example.com) for more details.

April 14 - Blood Drive
The Red Cross blood drive is at RSM on Good Friday, April 14, from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. Our quota has been doubled for this drive, so we need lots of donors! Go to www.redcrossblood.org , click on Make a Blood Donation Appointment, enter sponsor code "shepherdhills", and follow the instructions. April 14 - Good Friday / Stations of the Cross Artwalk
Stations of the Cross Artwalk from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Good Friday service at 8:00 pm at RSM campus. Artists’ creative talent from Shepherd of the Hills will be on display for the annual Stations of the Cross. Join the choir in the Sanctuary at 8:00 pm for a time of reflective choral selections and Holy Communion.
April 14-16 - Easter Prayer Vigil
The Easter Prayer Vigil begins at 9 pm on Good Friday and continues until 6 am Easter Morning at the MV Campus. Prayer slots of one hour are offered for the 33 hour vigil, and registration boards are in the narthex at both sites. Also available: night support positions and pray-from-home option.
April 16 - Easter Sunday
Come and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ at Shepherd of the Hills! Worship services will feature dynamic music that celebrates the victory of Jesus over death.:

April 21 - Southwest Community Center
Friday, April 21 is our time again to serve a hot noonday meal at Southwest Community Center Hospitality Center in Santa Ana. Stop by the table on the patio on Sundays, April 9 and April 16, and sign up to donate one or more of the items needed.
Southwest Community Center provides assistance to the poor and disadvantaged, helping them to become independent. Volunteering of time, needed materials, and all financial support is donated by Orange County churches, charitable organizations, local businesses, individuals and the United Way. To volunteer to help, please contact Barbara Mosher at 582-8263.
April 22 - Positive Parenting class
“Keep it Positive” class is Saturday morning, April 22 at the MV Campus. The class is ideal for parents or caregivers looking to improve parenting skills and increase family love and harmony. See here for information and sign-up.
April 25 - Shepherd Seniors Visit Mission SJC & Tea House
The Shepherd Seniors will have a docent-led tour of Mission San Juan Capistrano along with afternoon tea at the Los Rios Tea House on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 25. The group will meet in the Mission Viejo campus parking lot at 12:30 to carpool. The mission tour is at 1:00 pm, followed by the Tea House at 2:30. Cost is $8 (mission only), $32 (tea house only), or $40 (mission and tea house). Reservation deadline is Sunday, April 15. April 27 - UMW General Meeting
UMW General Meeting 10:00 am, April 27, in Shepherd Hall will feature Susan Johnson from Alabaster Jar Project in Vista. This is a rescue house for women fleeing from sex trafficking. We are invited to bring feminine hygiene products (ie: sanitary napkins) to donate to the home. Lunch this month will be potluck salads.
April 30 - Coffee with the Pastor
Join us for Coffee with the Pastor at 2:00 pm, an informal time with Pastor Karl or Pastor Jon. Ask questions and chat about Shepherd of the Hills–how things work and just anything you might want to know, as you get more familiar with the Shepherd family. Sign up in the RSM lobby or at the MV office table.

May 6 - AIDS Walk Orange County
AIDS Walk Orange County -- We are excited to announce that Shepherd of the Hills will have a walk/run team again this year!!! The walk will be on Saturday, May 6. The festival and fun zone will open at 8:30 am and the Opening Ceremony Program will commence at 10:00 am with the run and walk following. The theme of this year’s walk is “Heroes for Zeros,” dress up as your favorite super hero and come join the fun!! To join the SOTH walk team, go to http://asf.convio.net/goto/SOTH. May 7 - Hunger Sunday
It’s back! The first Sunday of every month will once again be designated as “Hunger Sunday”. We will be joining forces with South County Outreach to help alleviate hunger in South Orange County. On the first Sunday of every month we will be collecting canned and boxed food items. The collection barrels will be out in front of the entrance to the church. Any and all non-perishable food items will be greatly appreciated. We hope to be able to update you each month how many pounds we collected and if any particular food items are in specific need. Watch for updates.
