Pastor Karl Stuckenberg began serving as the Lead Pastor at Shepherd of the Hills in July 2013. He has served several churches in his ministry in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. He received his B.A. degree in Economics from California State University, Fullerton, and completed his Masters of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology. He and his wife Kristen have been married for 17 years and have 2 daughters, Kayla and Kendal.
Pastor Jon Waterson serves as site pastor for Rancho Santa Margarita. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Pastor Jon's family moved to Southern California when he was eight years old. He is the son of a United Methodist minister, and has been a lifelong UMC member. He received his bachelor’s degree from Westmont College and a Masters of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology. Pastor Jon’s unique theological perspective embraces aspects of both evangelical Christianity and principles of social justice. Hiking is a great source of inspiration, along with reading, watching movies, and following his beloved Detroit Tigers. His wife is Cindy and they have one son, Corran.
David Enger serves as Director of Student Ministries, and has been with Shepherd of the Hills since September, 2008. David and his wife hail from Ladera Ranch where they have lived for the last several years. He received his Master of Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and is serving our church half-time as minister with Jr. High, Sr. High and College-Age youth.
Philip Bardowell serves as Director of Gather Ministries and Modern Worship. Born in Jamaica and raised in southern California, Philip grew up in the music world--forming his first band at 12, backing Jan and Dean at 20, and later touring with the Beach Boys. Seeking to fill a void in his life, Philip came to Christ by worshipping Him in song--and changed his life forever. In addition to leading the Modern Worship at the Mission Viejo Campus and Shepherd's Gather Ministries, Philip continues to write and record music ("To The Ends Of The Earth" is his latest release). Psalm 108:1 "My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul."
Stephanie Cleye has served as Director of Children and Family Ministries since March of 2014. She has a background of over 10 years serving in all areas of children's ministry at churches in both Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills. Stephanie has lived in Aliso Viejo for 19 years and has two teenage children, Josh and Cheyenne. She was drawn to Shepherd by the warmth of the families and the smiles on the children's faces. Favorite verse: "Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
Jill Yamada joined the Shepherd staff as Church Administrator in July 2008. Her last position was worship leader in a local church for 13 years. Being nurtured in the faith from an early age, she began singing in church at age three and has been active in church ever since. Jill is a local business owner since 1985. She is also a certified presenter for Contemplative Outreach Ltd., teaching and leading workshops for Centering Prayer, a method of Christian meditation. Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
Kim Nason has been Director of Music at Rancho Santa Margarita since 1990. Kim directs the Chancel Choir which sings at the 9:30 service on Sundays. She also directs the annual children's summer Music Camp. Kim graduated from USC with a degree in Music Education. She has taught elementary music for the Capistrano Unified School District since 1988. Kim and her husband Doug have been active in many groups and events at Santa Margarita since they became members in 1990. They live in Mission Viejo with their two children, Samantha and Joshua. Kim loves working with singers of all ages and especially enjoys the fellowship that happens when people are focused on a common goal.
Doug Nason heads up our worship multi-media teams as Director of Visual Arts. Doug is a graduate of Cal Poly, Pomona, and teaches science in elementary schools. He is married to Kim and is a "stay-at-home" dad for much of the week. At church, Doug ensures that the different parts of media - music, lyrics, slide shows, movie clips, and videos - come together on Sunday mornings. When he's not editing video on the computer or creating new ideas for worship, Doug helps lead music at a few local churches and summer camps.
Preschool Executive Director Becci Lukes has been a part of the renowned preschool for 21 years. The first 12 years she enjoyed teaching different programs, and then became director. She is a hands on administrator enjoying the many facets of this program. Under her leadership the school became accredited with NAEYC which is the highest ranking a preschool can achieve in our country. Now in addition to this accomplishment the school is part of the “First 5 Years” programs of California which works with distinguished schools promoting quality education for the young child. Becci has been happily married for 32 years, and has two grown, married daughters. Becci enjoys running around the lake and camping with her husband Jim and their two dachshunds, Eleanor and Mildred.
Cindie Reilly is Site Director, and has spent 20 years in Early Childhood Education. She's celebrated 33 years of marriage to husband Bob. They are empty-nesters but share their home with two 4-legged "children" (dachshunds Tucker & Ruber) along with four koi. Their 24 year-old son Shaun also has a dachshund named Charlie. Cindie's hobbies include genealogy research (she's a docent at Mission Viejo Library's Genealogy Section on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30), reading and scrapbooking.
